The event for this year is a special partnership supported and sponsored by the UK’s National Government Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the Government Office for the East of England, and the Regional Centres of Excellence.
The event forms part of a series of events organised by ICLEI’s Sustainable Procurement Team on the topic of sustainable procurement as part of the "Buy it Green" –Network of Sustainable Procurement Professionals in Europe (BIG-Net).
Objectives
Key objectives of the event:
- Provide informative presentations and discussions offering practical advice from experts on cross-cutting issues, such as sustainable food procurement, will form part of the main programme elements.
- Various key national initiatives launched this year by the UK government which take up the topic of sustainable procurement, amongst these being the sustainable development strategy Securing the Future and the Regional Centres of Excellence.
- Showcase sustainable procurement best practice experiences from pioneer authorities from across Europe will also form an integral part of the event.
